It is the tenth year of the Tensho era (1582). This is Oda Nobunaga’s final year in the land of the living.
Oda Nobunaga’s wife, Princess Kicho the daughter of Dosan Saito, has disappeared after the completion of Azuchi Castle.
Mitsuhide, the investigators’ employer, has received orders to find the princess in the Dragon Palace. Servants have begun to whisper that the princess has recently appeared in one of the ink landscape paintings, in the Buddhist chambers on the fifth floor of the castle. Hinori Asayama, who has barely survived the maddening doctrinal arguments with Luis Frois, seems to be the only person with any idea what is going on.
Sparks are about to fly at Honnoji in Kyoto.
